Information you give us
When you fill out our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and the project details you choose to share (such as project type, estimated budget, target start date and your message). If you call or email us, we collect the information you provide in that conversation.
We use this information to respond to your inquiry, discuss and assess your project, provide quotes and services, and keep records of our communications. We do not sell your personal information.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use our site and to measure our advertising. These tools may collect your IP address, device and browser type, pages you visit, how you arrived at our site (for example, from a Google or Facebook ad), and actions you take, such as submitting a form or tapping our phone number or email link.
We use the following services:
- Google Tag Manager, to manage the tracking tools on our site.
- Google Analytics, to understand how visitors find and use our website.
- Google Ads conversion tracking, to measure which of our ads lead to inquiries.
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel, to measure and improve our Facebook and Instagram ads.
Contact details used to measure our ads
When you submit our contact form, the email address and phone number you enter may be converted into a scrambled, one-way code (a “hash”) on your device and shared with Google (and Meta, if applicable). These companies use the hashed information only to match your form submission to an ad you may have clicked, so we can measure how well our ads work. We do not share your contact details in readable form for this purpose.
Your choices
You can limit or opt out of this tracking at any time:
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Manage Google ad personalization at myadcenter.google.com
- Manage Facebook and Instagram ad preferences in your Meta account’s Ad Preferences.
Blocking cookies will not stop you from using our website.
Consent
By submitting our contact form, calling or emailing us, you consent to us collecting, using and disclosing your personal information as described in this policy.
You can withdraw or limit your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, by contacting our Privacy Officer. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to respond to your inquiry or work with you on your project.
In some cases the law allows or requires us to collect, use or disclose personal information without your consent, for example to comply with a court order or other legal requirement, to respond to an emergency that threatens someone’s life, health or safety, or for an investigation or legal proceeding.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business and website, such as our website host, email provider, and the Google and Meta services listed above. These providers may store or process information outside of Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep information
We keep inquiry information for as long as needed to respond to you and, if we work together, for the length of our business relationship and any period required for legal, tax or warranty purposes. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of the services above.
When we no longer need personal information, we securely destroy or erase it, or make it anonymous so it can no longer be linked to you.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our use of it (subject to legal or contractual limits). To make a request or ask a question about this policy, contact our Privacy Officer at projects@genexbuilders.ca or (403) 903-1877. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we respond.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last changed.
